International Youth Day 2022’s theme is “Intergeneration Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages”. This is an opportunity to communicate that all generations must take action to realize Agenda 2030 and its 17 SDGs.

History of International Youth Day
The United Nations General Assembly started making concerted efforts to reach the youth in 1965. They endorsed the Declaration on Promoting the Values of Peace and Mutual Respect among People. The UN General Assembly approved the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth’s recommendation on December 17, 1999. Thus, International Youth Day was created. The first International Youth Day was celebrated on August 12, 2000. Since then, it has been used for education.
