Bhagwani Devi sets world record by winning gold medal in 100m race at the age of 94. Now she is the world’s fastest veteran. She closed 100m in just 24.78 seconds. She has had success in track events as well as field events at the World Master Athletics Championships. She won the bronze medal in shot put.
The Union Sports Ministry rejoiced at Bhagwani Devi success. In a tweet The Ministry of Youth Welfare and Sports has been announced “Bhagwani Devi, 94, has once again proved that age is not a barrier. She won gold in the 100 meters at the World Masters Athletics Championships. She took 24.84 seconds. She also won a bronze medal in the shot put.”
From June 29 to July 10, The World Masters Athletics Championships will be held in Tampere, Finland. According to the rules of the competition, in order to participate in this competition, the age of the contestant must be at least 35 years. There 94-year-old Bhagwani Devi’s gold winning is considered to be a special achievement in the 100m run.
